I’m heading to Austin today to do some recruiting for work at the UT Biz school. This means I’ll be on the road for 3 hours then working some tonight so I won’t have much time to blog. So to fill the void that will obviously be left without one of my insightful blog posts, I’ll throw out some links that could be fun to look at while I’m indisposed. (more…)

Well, I committed to writing a paragraph of at least 5 sentences about any topic left in the comments of the Reader’s Choice intro blog so I’m gonna start off with a bang. Coming up is the first Reader’s Choice blog post. Topic: Kittens.
P.S. If you have any other Reader’s Choice suggestions you can leave them in the comments of any post tagged Reader’s Choice. (more…)
One Day February 25, 2008

Well I’m not really sure how or why it happened but I finished a song tonight. In fact, I started it tonight as well. I was messing around with my guitar while reading about songwriting online and started messing with this very simple chord progression and I really liked how it sounded. Then I kind of found a melody I liked with it and the lyrics seemed to come out of nowhere. And with a litle bit of tweaking, I got to a place where I am happy with it. At least for tonight.
Long story short, I finished a song and I’m pretty happy with it. I think I’m gonna call it One Day. Now all I have to do is find a way to get a decent recording of it so I can post it up on Youtube or here.

So I meant to blog today before I went to the “entertainment shower” for mel and the j. I didn’t so I’m making up for it with a post-party blog. Apparently “entertainment shower” means house party with all the friends of the couple getting married which ended up being a wicked awesome time (I’m so Boston with my use of wicked). So good times tonight is my overall message. Hope everyone else had a good night too.

I don’t have a lot I feel like writing about today so I thought I would open up the blog for a possible new weekly segment – The Reader’s Choice blog. Throw out some ideas in the comments about what you want me to blog about (as ridiculous or serious as you want the topic to be) and I promise to write at least 1 paragraph of 5 sentences about the topic and take it as seriously as I possibly can. A nonsensical sports tidbit February 21, 2008

John Rocker pitched for 4 teams over a six year period from 1998 to 2003. Best described as an average reliever with attitude issues, his career stats read 13-22 with a 3.42 ERA and 88 saves over 255 innings pitched. It seems fitting that my beloved Texas Rangers took a chance on him in 2002 (and, shocker, he had his worst season where he pitched in at least 25 games). And now, ol’ Johnny Rock is crazier than ever. (more…)
