I’ve been asked by a few people to post lyrics to my songs. I’ll do so intermittently when I have nothing else to say or I just finish a draft of a song and want to get some feedback. So without further ado, I’ll give a little background and then post lyrics and the video (if available) of the songs I write.
This is the first song I ever wrote. I’m still proud of the accomplishment of having finished my first song and I appreciate what it taught me about the process but I’m not sure how much I like the actual song anymore because I think the lyrics are a little to simple. After reading the written lyrics, it seems like more of a poem than a song. Oh well, it may work better that way.
I basically got the idea for this song from two sources. One was most obviously a woman that I won’t name but essentially she rejected me and I decided the reason was my lack of accomplishments and personal insecurities rather than a multitude of other reasons that became clear as time passed. The other was a general feeling that I wrote about in the post Here I Go Again. I may or may not post my inspiration for every song but this one was very clear to me so I felt it was worth mentioning.
Anyway, here are the lyrics with the video I originally posted at the bottom.
One Day
One day I’ll get everything right
And one day I won’t waste the night
And one day I’ll become a millionaire
Or at least a little more self aware
Chorus
But until then I’ll just put on that big ol’ smile
‘Cause I know it’s gonna take a little while
Until one day will become….. today
And one day I’ll start playing fair
And one day I’ll show you how much I care
And one day I’ll be good enough for you
Or at least be ready for someone new
Chorus
And one day I’ll stop thinking too much
And one day I’ll stop acting so tough
And one day I will pull myself together
Because one day I will finally forget her
Chorus
And one day I’ll get everything right

The fact that there is no actual video included leads me to believe that you can only play your music in the nude. This could become very awkward when you want to impress a lady with your skillz.

I think Mr. Strom mistakenly misspelled awesome in his comment: “This could become very awesome when you want to impress a lady…”
